At Mountain Valley Psychological Services, we provide mental health therapy and diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults in the beautiful background of the Snoqualmie Valley.
Stephanie Pickering, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years in clinical practice. She works with children, teens, adults, and families on their journey toward hope, healing, and health.
Dr. Pickering specializes in working with clients who have anxiety, depression, OCD, tics/Tourettes, adjustment issues, autism, ADHD, and chronic stress. She prioritizes the client’s goals and values while utilizing therapeutic practices that have been proven to be effective.
Dr. Pickering uses multiple therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure/Response Prevention, Parent Management Training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioral Activation, Comprehensive Behavioral Interventions for Tics/Tourettes, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
Dr. Pickering also provides comprehensive diagnostic assessments, including assessments for Autism, ADHD, mental health issues, and academic difficulties.
Dr. Pickering is offering appointments in person and via telehealth. In person appointments may be outside ("walk and talk" therapy) or indoors with appropriate distancing and masks.
Dr. Pickering is not contracted with any insurance companies but can provide you with an itemized invoice for third-party reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company about out-of-network reimbursement and claims submissions.
Stephanie Pickering, Ph.D. received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Washington. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Seattle Pacific University, where she received the Presidential Citation for excellence in academics and research. She then completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Wichita Collaborative Psychology Internship Program, with placements at Wichita State University Counseling Center and the University of Kansas – School of Medicine.
Dr. Pickering went on to complete a two year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Washington’s Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD) in Neurodevelopmental Assessment. She also completed a two year post-doctoral fellowship at Sound Health in Seattle focused on therapy and assessment with all ages.
Dr. Pickering is also a staff psychologist at Seattle Children’s, where she has worked since 2008 providing therapy and diagnostic assessments for children and adolescents. She directed the Mood and Anxiety Program at Seattle Children's Autism Center for 4 years.
In her free time Dr. Pickering enjoys spending time on her farm with her spouse, two kids, and two dogs. She also enjoys biking, running, cooking, and reading a good book.
